What To See In Spain

 what to see in spain

What to see in Spain does
not have to include Marbella, any of the Costas, Granada, or Seville.

Arcos de la Frontera in Andalusia. If you love spectacular views, then Arcos belongs to the must see places. The views from the cliff hanging terrace in the historic centre of this old Arab town will not be bettered in Europe. Imagine being dramatically perched on a crag, overlooked by a Moorish castle and in turn looking down on the Guadalete River, which surrounds the town on the other three sides. Arcos was built to be an impregnable fortress, and is like a natural amphitheatre, and its very narrow winding streets, some ending in steps is very much Arabic in style. The whitewashed walls of the houses indicates that Arcos belongs to the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos, a series of a dozen or so similarly painted villages perched on hills, on this popular route. You may wish to stay at the Parador Arcos de la Frontera known also as Hotel Casa del Corregidor, which was an 18th century palace, and seat of the King's magistrate. Charles de Gaulle was so moved by the view he wrote his memoirs here.
